For some people, a trip to the dentist isn’t enjoyable but they can get through it uneventfully. For others, however, it represents their greatest fear. Either way, conscious sedation offers individuals a safe option for making their dental experience far more relaxing and much less memorable.
What does sedation dentistry involve?
Sedation dentistry usually involves medication (a relaxing pill) and/or gases, chosen for their appropriateness for both the individual and for the length of the procedure. Nitrous Oxide/oxygen gas is used to alter the desired level of sedation, and monitoring equipment such as a pulsoximeter is used throughout the procedure to closely monitor the level of sedation.
Sedation dentistry offers patients the ability to attain the level of dental care that they require, deserve, and desire, in a relaxed state.
